The Nam Hai

As we drove down the landscaped driveway we were filled with excitement about the experience to come.  We were off to the Nam Hai - Vietnam’s premier resort.    Upon entry to the cool villa we were blown away with the interior design.  The simple yet stunning design topped with the incredible views brought a massive smile to both our faces.  As we were shown around the villa our eyes strayed to the spectacular eggshell lacquered sunken bath and outside shower.

Heaven is the Nam Hai....

Heaven is the Nam Hai....

We used these at the first possible opportunity!  The villa manages to provide all of the amenities you could ever need, whilst maintaining the elegant finish and all of this  with an amazing ocean backdrop.

Check in was a stress free task as we were treated to a very refreshing ginger infused ice cold drink in the bar, whilst the paper work was being completed.  We met a number of friendly members of staff who gave us an informative introduction to the hotel.  We were then taken to our lodgings on a buggy and as we passed through the grounds we noticed the lush and calm surroundings.

We found out that the resort was conceived using a number of  different designers from around the world. You can see this variety in the different spaces on offer.  It is also evident in the different experiences of offer, ranging from the comprehensive fitness suite to the  luxurious spa.  This is breathtaking, comprising individual villas set around a peaceful lagoon.  Our neighbours, Larry and Linda from Chicago, commented that their massages were”superb”!

The three infinity pools in the centre of the complex each have their own character and are extremely well tended by the members of staff.  You can (and we did) while away the hours and days by any one of these pools.  The beach restaurant has an extensive menu and you can eat at the pool side if you desire.  We had a pizza, Vietnamese salad and burger -  all freshly prepared and all excellent.  The main restaurant had an Indian flavour to the menu as the head chef is from Mumbai.  To start with we had a mixed Indian kebab platter  followed by a 24hr braised belly of pork vindaloo and chicken tikka makhani.  Each dish had a well balanced mix of spices that made the food come alive in your mouth.  The waiters serving the food and the restaurant manager were friendly and attentive to our needs.  On a Wednesday and Saturday the beach restaurant is open for dinner with a full Vietnamese menu.  It is also possible to order personal BBQ’s or romantic honeymoon dinners on the beach.

The hotel provides a complementary shuttle service into Hoi An at regular intervals.  We made use of this to pop into the tailors one afternoon and to enjoy an evening by the river in this picturesque town.

Our stay at the Nam Hai was a real highlight of our trip through Vietnam.  It provided a haven of tranquility and chance to truly relax in exquisite surroundings.
