The dates are in and the England Cricket Team are playing Test Matches: England v Sri Lanka in Galle between 26th and 30th March and in Colombo 2nd and 6th April.
We can pretty much guarantee now that there will not be a room free within an hour of Galle during those dates. There are just not enough rooms to accommodate all the people who will want to watch cricket in one of the world’s most exotic Test match venues. It’s going to be good – but please get in touch with us NOW if you want to get one of our tours booked.
England V Sri Lanka 2012
- 1st Test Sri Lanka v England Galle Hotels
- 2nd Test Sri Lanka v England Colombo Hotels
We can do the whole cricket thing for you or we can do what many people did last time which was fit a holiday in Sri Lanka around a few days of cricket. Cricket and a holiday in Sri Lanka: one of the finest, most beautiful places on earth. What more could you ask for?
We have pre-booked some beautiful hotels in the Galle area, many rooms in Colombo too and also some of our favourite spots around the country to fit in and around those. Have a look at our full list of England Cricket Tours: Sri Lanka 2012.
We also have some fantastic villas available near Galle for the duration. Why not get a group together and book a luxury villa for a week? The villas are all fully staffed and you won’t have to put up with any drunken singing from fellow ‘enthusiasts’. With a group or a family staying together you get AMAZING value – there is no way you will get this kind of quality for these prices at a hotel (or anywhere else you might watch cricket for that matter!). Have a look at Villa Ambalama or Southpoint Villa they are hotels near Galle Cricket ground.
Whatever you want to do though, the best thing is to get in contact with us immediately. Fill in your details here and we’ll contact you directly. We love Cricket too – we organised lots of tours last time around too. Let us know and we’ll help you put something together.

Hi Margaret,
Unfortunately we can only sell tickets for the cricket as part of a wider tour. They have not yet released the tickets, but when they do I would be happy to point you in the right direction.
Many thanks,
Sam
Hi Sam,
I am based in Singapore and would like to join the ground portion of your tour for the Galle Test (March 26-30,2012). Is that possible, and how would the logistics work ? Look forward to hearing from you.
Jay
Hi Jay – we’d love to help and can definitely do just the ground portion. Drop us an email at info@experiencetravelgroup.com.
I am based in Melbourne so i am looking to join tour with an Aussie flight link up.both tests would be great as well as tour package. Can you please let me know costs etc.I am solo but willing to share twin accomodation if possible.
Cheers.
Hi Andrew,
We don’t have any group tours for the cricket – though you’ll definitely be staying in a hotel full of cricket fans! If you drop us an email we can put something together for you: info@experiencetravelgroup.com.
Thanks,
Sam
When the cricket starts will there still be hotels available in the cities, or do you expect them to be mostly booked up? For instance in Galle what is availability like? Can we wait for last minute Sri Lanka Cricket tour tickets and hotels?
Hi,
We would say that there is very little chance of any hotels at all being free in Galle or Colombo. We sold almost our entire allocation and there will simply be more fans travelling than there are hotel spaces available at what is a busy time of year anyway. We have heard of people booking a hotel as far away as Kalutara. I suppose there could be some last minute cancellations – but I would strongly advise you get in touch with us and we can send you details of one of our few remaining packages – 020 7924 7133!
To whom may have the info I need.
I’m arriving Colombo late on 24 March 2012. Planning to catch a train Sunday down to Galle( any info here too?), the day before the Ist Test starts.
Where can I secure tickets now?
What accommodation options are left, say, within 10kms of the ground?
Aussie supporting his colonial masters!!! (James)
Your assistance sought and greatly appreciated.
Hi James,
We can definitely help with this and we’ll email you directly. I wouldn’t take the train down for reasons we will explain and you can get tickets easily as they are not yet on full release. Accommodation options are limited but still possible.
Thanks,
Sam

Hello Sam
My wife and I are going to Sri Lanka to watch both tests.
Is it better to get tickets before we travel or are they easy to get hold of when you are there?
Thanks
Andy
Hi Andy,
We suspect that covered stand tickets might be in short supply on the day – at least for the first few days. You’ll always be able to get uncovered tickets but the heat in Sri Lanka means covering is essential for most English people! We are told they should be made available for purchase online any day. We will be purchasing tickets on behalf of our clients only.
Many thanks,
Sam
Sam
Thanks very much.
Andy.
Sam
Which stands are covered at Galle And the P Sara Oval as it’s not clear on the Sri Lanka cricket web site.
Thanks
Andy.
Hi Andy,
Basically, the $20 (Rs 2000) and above tickets are covered and offer shade.
Many thanks,
Sam
Cheers Sam
Hello Sam
The tickets for Sri Lanka are on sale 5000LKR (£25) – 7500LKR (£37) per person per day.
They seem a bit steep for Sri Lanka prices but I cannot find any cheaper.
Is this what we will have to pay? Or do you know where we can get cheaper tickets.
As we are after 2 tickets for each day for both tests this could cost about £500.
Thanks
Andy.
Hi Andy,
That is about right. Tickets are priced higher than we expected. There are some Rs 2000 tickets(£15) going (but they seem to be hard to get at). These are the cheapest under-cover seats. On the day you will be able to buy exceptionally cheap tickets (Rs 200 and Rs 300) – but these will exposed to direct sunlight which is generally not good for white skinned Europeans! You can see here for more details and to purchase tickets: http://www.srilankacricket.lk.
Thanks,
Sam

Thanks Sam.
We’re going to pay on the day and hopefully get some covered seats.

Cheers

Hi Andy,
Good idea – the SLCB are playing silly buggers to say the least. You won’t see me there unfortunately but you might see my colleagues, Nick or Tom!

Sam
